(VOVworld) - The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Quang Ngai Province held a workshop on Friday on to discuss the design and architecture of a Paracel memorial monument to be built on Ly Son island.

The event drew the participation of many experts, architects, painters, and sculptors. Dang Ngoc Tung, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, said: “The memorial is to pay tribute to Vietnamese people who had sacrificed their lives to protect Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago. It reflects a spirit of national unity to defend national sovereignty and aims to educate younger generations on patriotism”.  

The project is planned to cover around 1.5-2 hectares, on the peak of Hang pagoda.
