(VOVworld) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has welcomed new Japanese ambassador to Vietnam, Umeda Kunio, on Wednesday.

He reiterated Vietnam's view to consider Japan a leading and long-term partner as both countries have elevated their comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and stability in Asia. Mr. Trong said he expected the ambassador would contribute to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries and friendship between the two peoples.
Ambassador Kunio expressed his pleasure to take office in Vietnam and pledged best efforts to promote bilateral ties following a joint declaration on Vision of Vietnam-Japan Relations.
