Party leader attends Vietnam Doctors’ Day grand meeting

(VOVWORLD) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong attended a grand meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of Vietnam Doctors’ Day on February 27.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said the 6th plenary session of the 12th Party Central Committee adopted a resolution on enhancing public health and healthcare and a resolution on population work.

Mr. Dam thanked all doctors and medical staff in Vietnam for their contributions to the nation’s health. He said he was thankful for the support of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other international organisations, doctors, and experts for Vietnam’s health sector. 

“The protection, care, and improvement of public health are the tasks of the entire political system, and are fundamental rights and obligations of each citizen. Investment in health care is investment for sustainable development and future generations,” said Mr. Dam, adding: “Party committees, administrations, and political organizations should devote more resources and closely co-ordinate with the health sector in creating the safest and the best environment for doctors and medical workers to fulfill their tasks.”

On this occasion, 2 individuals were granted the title National Emulation Fighters” and 12 organizations were awarded certificates of merit.
