Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong chairs Politburo meeting
(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the Politburo focused their discussion on socio-economic development and national defense and security of the Mekong Delta and the fight against corruption and wastefulness during a meeting in Hanoi on Friday.

Reviewing the implementation of the Resolution on directions, tasks and solutions to socio-economic development and national defense and security in the Mekong Delta in the 2001-2020 period, Party General Secretary Trong said the Politburo Resolution must show the ideological and guiding orientations, undertakings and policies without going into details. He stressed the need to issue a resolution that affirms the role, position, and importance of the Mekong Delta.
Reviewing the five-year implementation of the Politburo's conclusion on strengthening the Party’s leadership in the fight against corruption and wastefulness, Mr. Trong emphasized that the work has recently been carried out more aggressively, fighting not only corruption but also negativity with a focus on the degradation of political ideology, morality and lifestyle.
