Party leader underlines key role of intellectuals in national development
(VOVWORLD) - Intellectuals have always been the mainstay in promoting social development in every country in every period, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said at a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s meeting with intellectuals and the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) in Hanoi on Friday.

Mr. Trong expressed his hope that Vietnamese intellectuals will continue advising the Party and State on science and technology and making Vietnam a more powerful country. Mr. Trong said:
“Talented and moral people are the key resource of the nation. In the Ho Chi Minh era, the intellectuals actively promoted national solidarity, and contributed a lot to the success of Vietnam’s revolution in different periods. President Ho Chi Minh stressed the importance of intellectuals and knowledge.”
Mr. Trong stressed the importance of policies and mechanisms to attract and develop a strong contingent of Vietnamese intellectuals to meet the needs of socio-economic development in the integration period.
