(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received a delegation of former outstanding diplomats on Saturday on the occasion of the 70^th anniversary of the foreign affairs sector.

He urged the sector to consult the Party and state in building a diplomatic strategy in order to create a peaceful, stable environment for national construction and defense. He said that the Party’s leadership and Ho Chi Minh’s Thought are the decisive factor in all achievements of the foreign affairs sector over the last 70 years.

Mr. Trong said: “I hope that the former diplomats will continue to help train their successors. Diplomats must be patriotic and have a political firmness. The goal of the foreign affairs sector is to maintain peace and stability and expand relations with other countries while being vigilant to deal with any subversive scheme.”
