Party leader: Vietnam respects relationship with the US
(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has called on Vietnam and the US to continue increased delegation exchanges, improve cooperation efficiency, and boost collaboration in remedying war consequences.

At a reception for US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Hanoi on Sunday, Party leader Trong reiterated Vietnam’s respect for the relationship with the US. He said he believes that the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership will further develop for peace, stability and development in the region and the wider world.
Secretary of State Pompeo said the US wants to strengthen its comprehensive partnership with Vietnam. He added the US will continue helping Vietnam in its efforts to overcome the war consequences and back ASEAN’s central role in the Indo-Pacific region. Mr. Pompeo also voiced the US support for freedom of navigation and peaceful settlement of disputes in the East Sea in line with international law.
