Party leader: Vietnam treasures friendship, cooperation with Myanmar
(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has reiterated Vietnam’s unwavering policy of expanding friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Myanmar.
At a reception for Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi in Hanoi on Friday, Mr. Trong praised the developing relations between the two countries, saying that the State Counselor’s visit to Vietnam will help elevate bilateral ties. He suggested that both sides strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchanges for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the wider world.
Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi informed the host of the outcome of talks between her and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, where both sides expressed determination to forge closer cooperation, particularly in trade, and effectively coordinate at regional and global forums, firstly in the ASEAN framework. The State Counselor said she wishes to boost comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam through Party, government, and people channels.
