Madam Khiet made the statement at a meeting with Buddhist dignitaries and monks on the occasion of Buddha’s birthday.

She said that over the past 2,000 years of existence in Vietnam, Buddhism has demonstrated that it is a patriotic religion, standing side by side with the Vietnamese nation and people.

Khiet expressed her belief that Buddhist monks and followers will continue their tradition of contributing to a prosperous, democratic, fair, and civilized Vietnam.

She called on Buddhist monks and followers to actively join emulation movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, thus contributing to socio-economic development, security and order, national sovereignty, and solidarity.
