Peace, security, navigation and aviation safety is common interest in the East Sea and region

(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has paid a courtesy visit to Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during his visit to Singapore. During talks on Tuesday, the Deputy Prime Minister asked Singapore to continue incentivizing their companies to invest in Vietnam. Deputy PM Phuc proposed that Singapore encourage investments into key areas in Viet Nam such as infrastructure, manufacturing, high technology, lodging services, tourism, auxiliary industry, energy and oil and gas.

He suggested Singapore strengthen cooperation with localities in Viet Nam, especially those with tourist potential such as the island districts of Phu Quoc and Ly Son, turning them into special economic and tourism zones.

The Singaporean Prime Minister expected early completion of the necessary procedures to launch the 6th and 7th Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Parks this year.  He said Singapore is ready to provide technical assistance to improve and develop human resources in Viet Nam.

Regarding the international and regional issues, the two sides highly valued the positive and effective cooperation at multi-lateral forums, agreeing that peace, navigation and aviation security and safety in the East Sea is of mutual benefit to ASEAN and the region.

ASEAN needs to fully exercise its role in dealing with issues related to peace and stability and resolving disputes through peaceful measures, based on international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 as well as fully implementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and working towards a future Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Minister of Culture, Community and Youth, Lawrence Wong and received several Singapore businesses who have invested in Vietnam.
