(VOVworld) – Vietnamese ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep affirmed that Vietnam highly appreciates the important role of friendship associations in promoting people’s diplomacy.

At a reception for Chairman of the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association (AFVA) Tayeb Cherfaoui on Wednesday, both sides discussed specific and immediate measures to establish and foster the relationship between AFVA and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO). Ambassador Vu The Hiep said the Vietnamese government and people respect the relations between Vietnam and Algeria. He stressed the need to maintain and foster exchanges and cooperation between the Vietnamese embassy and the Algeria-Vietnam Friendship Association. He asked AFVA to expand economic cooperation between Vietnam and Algeria and pledged to release more detailed proposals in this field. Meanwhile, Tayeb Cherfaoui promised to cooperate with Vietnam in social, culture, sports and economic fields, adding that Vietnam and Algeria need to be politically determined to cooperate successfully.
