Philippine President orders more army recruitment to crush militants
(VOVWORLD) - Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday ordered the army commander to recruit 10 new infantry battalions to crush remnants of pro-Islamic State militants, days after they were defeated in the southern city of Marawi.

New military chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero pledged to wipe out pro-ISIS militants and end armed conflicts in the Philippines. On Monday, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana declared the end of the 5-month combat operations against pro-ISIS militants in Marawi.
