(VOVworld) – The Phu Tho provincial People’s Committee held a press conference this week to announce the results of efforts to preserve and develop traditional Xoan singing over the last 4 years. This was part of activities marking Vietnam’s Heritage Day on November 23.

Phu Tho province has 30 Xoan singing clubs with more than 1,000 members. 19 relic sites related to Xoan singing have been restored or upgraded.
Ha Ke San, Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said: “new Xoan singing guilds have been established and many young people have learned the art. Phu Tho province has 19 meritorious artists, 17 of whom are Xoan singers.”
The province has introduced Xoan singing in schools in Viet Tri city and held a number of exchanges with Xoan singers as part of school extra-curricular activities.
