Mr. Chinh worked with Hanoi leaders on Monday on the capital's COVID-19 response and socio-economic development in the first half of this year and future plans. He suggested municipal authorities take a new approach in the COVID fight and prepare for worsening scenarios.
“Top priority must be given to preventing the COVID-19 situation from escalating in Hanoi. Production should be maintained in safe places but we have to put the protection of people’s health first and foremost,” said PM Chinh.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said that the pandemic in the city is still under control but high risks remain as more community transmissions are expected in the coming time. In the first half, Hanoi’s economy grew 5.9%, nearly doubling the same period last year, he said adding that the city has built two economic development scenarios in 2021, with growth rates of 7.5% and 6.5-7%
