PM asks US to recognize Vietnam's market economy status
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam and the US should make their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more effective and substantive, focusing on cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and high-quality human resources training.

Mr. Chinh was speaking at a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday for Emily Blanchard, the visiting Chief Economist of the US State Department.
The PM urged the US government to complete its recognition of Vietnam's market economy status soon.
He asked the US to fully open its market to Vietnamese goods such as textiles, footwear, and electronics, and reduce anti-dumping and anti-subsidy taxes and other restrictions on Vietnamese exports, especially farm produce and wood products.
Blanchard agreed that there needs to be a new framework between the two countries, especially in those areas PM Chinh mentioned.
She praised Vietnam's achievements in economic growth, macroeconomic management, and inflation control, and said she thinks Vietnam’s improving investment and business environment will attract more US investors.
The US is ready to share its experience in economic policy and responding to fluctuations in the global economy, she said.
