(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday made an inspection tour of the planning area of Tran De seaport as part of his working visit to the Mekong delta province of Soc Trang.

Tran De estuary is the last point of Hau river flowing into the sea. According to the construction plan, Tran De port is capable of receiving general and container ships of 50,000-160,000 DWT.
The port area will span 550ha with a 16km long sea-crossing wharf. Once completed, Tran De seaport will help promote advantages of waterways in the Mekong delta and will be an important international port, contributing to the development not only of Soc Trang but also of the Mekong delta region.
Also on Wednesday afternoon, Prime Minister Chinh visited the Long Phu 1 Thermal Power Plant project, in Long Duc commune, Long Phu district, where he discussed with leaders of related ministries, sectors and agencies and talked to project staff.
