PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc attends major conferences in Japan

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam will continue to do its utmost to sharpen the national economy’s competitive edge and attract foreign investors including those from Japan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told a Vietnam investment promotion conference held in Tokyo on Monday. The conference, the largest of its kind in Japan, drew 1,600 participants.

Earlier the same day, Prime Minister Phuc gave a keynote speech at the opening session of the 23rd International Conference on the Future of Asia. He stressed that globalization is a trend, an economic process, and a reflection of humankind’s desire for advancement, happiness and conquering challenges. Mr. Phuc emphasized the key role of Asia during globalization and proposed three measures, including maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in the context of structural changes of the region, boosting green, sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and optimizing resources and promoting the active role of international institutions. He also discussed several issues, including the role of the ASEAN Economic Community, environmental pollution challenges to Vietnam and the country’s socio-economic development.

Under the theme “Globalism at a crossroads – Asia’s next move”, this year’s conference focuses on trends and factors affecting the future of Asia, including protectionism and populism, relations among major nations and world order change, and the development of ASEAN, China, and South Africa.
