PM praises success of football teams at SEA Games
(VOVWORLD) - This year has been the most successful SEA Games yet for Vietnam football, with gold medals won by both the men’s and women’s football teams, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on Wednesday while welcoming the teams’ return from the Philippines.

He congratulated the U22 men’s football team on a historic performance and applauded the women’s team for playing at over 100% of their ability. Prime Minister Phuc also praised the talent and effort of coaches Park Hang-seo and Mai Duc Chung. He said: “These victories are not only about sport but are also victories of the Vietnamese spirit, unity, and support of millions of Vietnamese patriots. We also can not overlook the special care of leaders at all levels.”
Prime Minister Phuc said he is proud of the result obtained by Vietnamese athletes at this year’s SEA Games, with 98 gold medals, 2nd in the medal tally.
