PM says he’s impressed by Hiroshima as anti-war symbol

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his impression of the cultural and historical traditions of Japan in general and Hiroshima in particular, saying that Hiroshima is a symbol of anti-war and peace-loving spirit.

Prime Minister Chinh received leaders of the Hiroshima-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Association, the Hiroshima-Vietnam Association, and the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Hiroshima prefecture on Friday as part of his three-day trip to attend the expanded Summit of the Group of Seven (G7) and working visit to Japan.

At the meeting, he expressed sympathy for the loss of Hiroshima with lasting war consequences and said he admires the strong rise of this land after the war.

Prime Minister Chinh said he hopes that the friendship associations of Hiroshima will continue to contribute to Vietnam’s cooperation with Japan and with Hiroshima in particular.

Earlier, the Prime Minister met with the Vietnamese community in Japan, where he conveyed greetings from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, and Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to the Vietnamese community. PM Chinh expressed his hope that the Vietnamese expats will continue to develop, preserve identity, and look forward to the motherland.
