At the conference, which was held virtually connecting the Government headquarter with 28 coastal cities and provinces, PM Chinh said the State pays special attention to the IUU fishing combat. Multiple inspection, oversight, and communications activities have been implemented while institutions have been fine-tuned. Vietnam has worked closely with related countries to inspect and deal with any wrongdoing, promoted aquaculture and processing, and reduced fishing.

PM Chinh urged Ministries, sectors and localities to prepare thoroughly and create the best conditions for the fourth inspection trip by the EC team.
"Whether the EU will remove the yellow card or not, we need to uphold our sense of responsibility for the people, for the country, for the environment, and for the international community. We need to create livelihood for the people, generate jobs for them, protect the environment, strengthen aquaculture and processing, reduce fishing, and improve people’s awareness about compliance with the law and environmental protection. It’s necessary to strengthen inspection and comply with Vietnamese law and international law."
The EC has conducted three inspection trips on IUU fishing in Vietnam. Many positive assessments have been made.
