Mr. Phuc on Friday attended a ceremony to inaugurate 1,000 telehealth facilities, which will gather more than 5,000 doctors and nurses across the country, along with those from Laos and Cambodia.
After more than 2 months of implementing a telehealth project targeting remote and mountainous regions, the Ministry of Health has collaborated with agencies to connect more than 1,000 medical sites with nearly 30 hospitals in Hanoi and HCM city. A number of Lao and Cambodian hospitals have also joined the network.
"Our target is to involve 14,000 health facilities nationwide in the telehealth network which will help ensure universal health coverage and be connected to the global network . It’s goods news that our telehealth network has been expanded to Laos and Cambodia," said Mr. Phuc.
"Major Vietnamese hospitals should partner with their counterparts in countries with advanced medicine to learn from them and share experience with them. I believe that in the near future many Vietnamese patients will no longer have to travel overseas for medical treatment.”
