Poland donates and transfer 3.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has thanked the Polish Government for its decision to offer more than 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, transfer an additional 3 million doses and donate medical supplies worth 4 million USD to Vietnam.

At a reception for Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Wojciech Gerwel in Hanoi on Tuesday, Prime Minister Chinh said Poland is the first country to offer such a large number of vaccines to Vietnam, showing the sincere affection, long-standing traditional friendship, and close bonding between the two peoples.

He suggested that both nations increase meetings between their high-ranking leaders and between their ministries, sectors and localities via flexible forms.

Mr. Chinh said the Polish Government continues helping Vietnamese expats in Poland  stabilize their life, particularly amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh and the Polish Ambassador discussed ways to further step up Vietnam-Poland cooperation at multilateral and regional forums.

Regarding the East Sea issue, they underscored the importance of ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation as well as the settlement of disputes by peaceful means on the basis of respect for international law in accordance with the UN Charter, and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Ambassador Gerwel affirmed that he will make efforts to further consolidating the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Poland for the shared interests of both countries and peoples.
