French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on February 26 about the possibility of Western countries deploying ground forces to Ukraine.
During a conference of 20 Western nations to discuss additional support for Ukraine, representatives from the majority of participating countries said they had no intentions of sending troops to Ukraine and opposed engaging in military operations against Russia.
In response to Macron’s statement, Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary for the Russian President, said deployment of troops by the West to Ukraine could make it difficult to avoid a military conflict between NATO and the Russia, adding that NATO countries should be aware of this and consider whether such actions are in their best interests.
