President: Army must keep improving to deserve people’s trust
(VOVWORLD) -President Tran Dai Quang has urged the Vietnam People’s Army to remain alert and continually improve its combat strength amid unpredictable global and regional developments so as to deserve the trust of the Party, State and people.

Mr. Quang, who is Chairman of the Defense and Security Council and Commander of the Armed Forces, worked with the Ministry of National Defense at the Mieu Mon training center in Hanoi on Tuesday.
He said the army needs to optimize the combined strength of various forces and work closely with police to defeat all activities of hostile forces, maintain political security and social order, and ensure absolute safety for important events, especially upcoming activities of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
Deputy Defense Minister Phan Van Giang said the army has coordinated with relevant forces to deal with arising situations in a timely manner, establishing itself as the core force in protecting the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and air, land and sea security.
