President calls for more care and respect for the elderly

(VOVWORLD) -President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his greetings to 12 million elderly people nationwide as he attended a ceremony to respond to the action month for the Vietnamese elderly in Hung Yen City on Saturday.

The President praised the Vietnam Association of the Elderly with 10 million members for their remarkable achievements and highlighted the role of the elderly. 

He said: “I applaud the Vietnam Association of the Elderly for organizing this year’s ceremony with profound humanistic meaning of "Joining hands to take care of the elderly in difficult circumstances". I hope that this spirit will spread far and wide, so that the Vietnamese elderly people, especially those in difficult circumstances, always receive the care and support as the tradition of "respecting the elderly, respecting longevity" of our nation.”

The President said he hopes that the elderly at home and abroad continue to promote the glorious tradition, well implement the patriotic emulation movement such as "Advanced age - Bright example"; "Live happy, live healthy, live usefully, live happily", to contribute their enthusiasm, wisdom and experience to building the country with the goal of a prosperous people, a strong, democratic, fair and civilized country.
