The 51.5km road plays a particularly important role in trade between the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City, and key economic zones in southern Vietnam.

At the opening ceremony, President Phuc said transport infrastructure is key to the Mekong Delta’s development and that strong determination of the Central Government, the investors, and related agencies helped speed up the project.

He directed the transport sector to ensure the quality of the 46km expressway between My Thuan and Can Tho and start construction of the Can Tho-Ca Mau expressway, especially the coastal line that the Government and the National Assembly have agreed to soon announce as the entire western route of the East Sea.
