President Phuc’s visit to bring Vietnam-Laos to new height
(VOVWORLD) - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc will pay an official friendly visit to Laos on Monday and Tuesday at the invitation of Lao Party leader and President Thongloun Sisoulith. The visit is of great importance to bilateral ties. This is President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s first official visit abroad since he became the Vietnamese President. This will also be the first time since its 11th Party Congress that Laos receives a foreign State leader.

In an interview with VNA, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung said the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos has been continued and nurtured by leaders and peoples of the two countries. The Ambassador said as the Vietnam-Laos relationship is growing rapidly, Vietnam needs to do more to strengthen the close bond and mutual trust between the two Parties, and further bilateral defense and security cooperation.
He said the two countries need to further raise bilateral economic and trade ties in par with bilateral politics, diplomatic, security, and defense cooperation and educate the two countries’ young generation of the tradition and strategic importance of Vietnam-Laos ties.
Ambassador Hung said President Phuc’s visit will deepen the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and contribute to national renewal, construction and defense of the two countries.
