The State Duma will address the proposed constitutional amendments during Tuesday’s meeting, said Mikhail Degtyarev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth Affairs.
Posted on the State Duma’s website, the proposals include changes to the president’s broad powers, giving the Duma the power to appoint a new Prime Minister, and limiting the Presidency to two terms. Putin promised that the public will be invited to vote on the proposed changes.
Kremlin news reported the same day that President Putin has asked the Russian Federation Council to approve Igor Krasnov, currently Deputy Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, as the next Prosecutor General.
