(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang Tuesday received Cuban President Raul Castro’s special envoy Alejandro Castro, who is on a visit to Vietnam. He hailed Cuba’s economic and diplomatic achievements, especially with regard to Cuba’s normalization of ties with the US. He said that like Cuba, Vietnam and the US had normalized diplomatic ties on the basis of mutual political respect and it was not an easy process, with both advantages and differences between both sides. Sang said Vietnam is ready to share with Cuba its experience in external activities and national development, adding that the market economy would speed up economic development but at the same time, could cause degradation among Party members that requires criticism and self-criticism to develop a strong Party trusted by the people nationwide.
Alejandro Castro briefed his host on his working agenda with Vietnamese ministries and agencies regarding national sovereignty protection amid external relations diversification. He also talked about Cuba’s latest steps in its external policies and said Cuba wanted to learn from Vietnam’s renewal experiences.
