President stresses upgrading Ho Chi Minh Prize to world level

(VOVWORLD) -The Ho Chi Minh Prize and State Prize of Science and Technology were awarded to 29 research projects of high value and practical applicability on Wednesday evening.

Speaking at the award ceremony held by the Ministry of Science and Technology at the Hanoi Opera House, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that Vietnam needs a strategic transformation to promote scientific research, application in combination with technology development in a number of strong industries and fields. He stressed the need to coordinate well between the State and society and between internal and external resources in science and technology development and innovation.

Referring to the goal that by 2030, Vietnam will be a country with modern industry, among the world’s 15 largest exporting countries, the President said that the Ho Chi Minh Prize and State Prize in Science and Technology needs to be part of a series of efforts to boost the national innovation ecosystem and develop Vietnam's modern industry.

“The awarding activity should be an inspiring event for highly qualified scientific and technological human resources, encouraging the whole society to increase investment in innovation. I propose to consider and raise the prestige of the Ho Chi Minh Prize to reach out to the region and the world. International scientists who have valuable research on Vietnam in all fields should be awarded. I hope that Vietnam will have more and more scientists winning prestigious international awards, which will honor the country's science, contribute to the glory of Vietnamese intelligence and to the treasure of knowledge, science and technology of mankind,” President Phuc said.
