(VOVWORLD) - President Vo Van Thuong has thanked the Governor and leaders of Tokyo for their efforts in fostering collaboration between Tokyo and Vietnamese localities, especially Hanoi, and supporting Vietnamese businesses in Tokyo.

President Thuong, who is paying an official visit to Japan, made the remarks on Tuesday while joining Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko in visiting “Banh mi Xin chao”, a Vietnamese sandwich restaurant opened by two former students from Vietnam.
President Thuong proudly acknowledged the growing number of young Vietnamese entrepreneurs finding success in Japan and their contributions to promoting Vietnamese culture and connecting the peoples of Vietnam and Japan.
Governor Koike congratulated President Thuong on his successful talks with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, and on the leaders’ adoption of a joint statement on the elevation of the countries’ relations to a “comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world”.
She highlighted Tokyo's cutting-edge flood protection system, and emphasizing its readiness for deployment in Vietnam.
Opened in 2016 “Banh mi xin chao” now has 15 stores in Japan and welcomes 500 customers a day.
