(VOVWORLD) - State President Vo Van Thuong received President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun in Beijing on Thursday, on the sidelines of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Mr. Thuong said AIIB plays an important role in supplying capital for infrastructure development in Asia's developing countries.
He asked the AIIB to coordinate in assisting members who need capital and technology, and step up infrastructure development in Asia, giving priority to greening and climate change response.
Acknowledging the thriving cooperation between Vietnam and AIIB, President Thuong called on the bank to carry out cooperation activities in a more effective manner in the coming time.
Mr. Jin praised Vietnam’s contributions to the AIIB, and said Vietnam has a strong potential for sustainable development. He pledged more assistance from AIIB for public and private sectors in Vietnam accessing the bank’s capital, especially for climate change mitigation and renewable energy development.
