President Trump threatens tariffs to solve US-EU trade problems

(VOVWORLD) - President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that charging additional tariffs on European imports could instantly resolve trade issues between the United States and European Union but he was not ready to add levies at this point.

At a press conference with Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Wednesday, President Trump said the US will seek a way to avoid imposing tariffs on European imports and that the US has been treated unfairly.
On Monday, the World Trade Organization approved a request from the US to impose tariffs to a value of nearly 7.5 billion USD on EU goods because of EU subsidies to the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus, which has harmed Airbus' s US rival, Boeing. The ruling is considered a breakthrough in a 15-year conflict between the world’s two leading aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing.
