President Truong Tan Sang receives Angolan, Congolese ministers

(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang on Wednesday received Angolan Minister of Science and Technology, Maria Candida Teixeira, who is attending the inter-governmental meeting in Vietnam.

Sang appreciated the Angolan people’s support for Vietnam in the past struggles for national independence and expressed his hope that relations would flourish in the future. President Sang expects that the two countries will use the inter-governmental mechanism to boost multi-faceted cooperation in politics, diplomacy, economy, investment, culture and education. He urged the resolution of obstacles to implement signed agreements which would bring practical benefits to both countries.

Minister Candida Teixeira affirmed Angola’s determination to enhance cooperation with Vietnam. She said bilateral economic relations have not been equal to the political trust and that the two countries should work out measures to boost cooperation in the areas agreed at the inter-governmental meeting.

Also on Wednesday, President Sang met with Congo’s Foreign Minister Basile Ikouebe. He said Vietnam treasures its 50-year relationship with the Congo and thanked Congo for supporting Vietnam’s market economy. He appreciated the Congolese Minister’s initiatives, especially in the arrangements for celebrating the two countries’ 50th diplomatic anniversary next year. He asked both countries to expand cooperation in the areas of their potential including energy, education, health, agriculture, and information technology. He said Vietnam and the Congo should thoroughly prepare topics for the coming inter-governmental meeting and the Congolese President’s visit to Vietnam next year.
