(VOVworld)- President Truong Tan Sang received in Hanoi on Monday the visiting chairman of the Japanese Lower House Budget Committee Toshihiro Nikai. In his address, President Truong Tan Sang thanked the Japanese government and organizations for supporting Vietnam’s protests at China’s illegal placement of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. The President also spoke highly of bilateral trade ties. He said Vietnam has been reforming its procedures and mechanisms to attract more foreign investment including those from Japan. He stressed the effectiveness of Japan’s assistance for tuna fishing in Vietnam and informed his guest about the Vietnamese government’s decision to set up a Japan-Vietnam University in Hanoi.
