(VOV) - President Truong Tan Sang has urged the central highland province of Kon Tum to focus on forest protection and development. During a working session with provincial top leaders on Friday in Kon Tum, Mr. Sang spoke highly of the locality’s achievements in socio-economic development and security for peace and friendship on the shared border line with Laos and Cambodia. He said given the complex global situation, Kon Tum party committees should make full use of local and regional advantages. Mr. Sang stressed on the need to boost afforestation, which is vital for the people’s livelihood: “We have precious land, but the way we utilize forest needs to be improved. Efforts should be made to protect the environment and the eco-system and prevent land erosion.”

President Sang said Kon Tum, which is endowed with fertile soil, should apply technological advances to help locals, including ethnic minority people stabilize their  lives and to safeguard political security and social safety.
