President Quang said the Army has become stronger in the past 73 years, defeated all invaders, and contributed greatly to Vietnam’s defense and development under the Party’s leadership and with the people’s support.

The article reviewed the Army’s accomplishments during Vietnam’s two resistance wars and development period. The President asked the Army to stay vigilant in light of recent events domestically and globally and hasten the building of a revolutionary, elite, and increasingly modern public security force with advanced combat capability. He urged the Army to keep a close eye on world developments and provide timely advice on border, maritime, and air security measures. The Army should get all citizens involved in national defense, engage in economic and socio-cultural development, and promote Party building work, President Quang added.

A gala night honoring Vietnamese soldiers was held in Hanoi to celebrate 73 years of the army, the 45th anniversary of the “Dien Bien Phu in the air” victory, and the 50th anniversary of the 1968 spring general offensive and uprising.

In Hai Phong, there is an exhibition of photos, books, and documents highlighting the significance of the two resistance wars against the French and American invaders. It also features the accomplishments of soldiers and civilians in Hanoi and Hai Phong during the “Dien Bien Phu in the air” campaign, which resisted heavy US bombing in 1972.
