President visits Vietnam ethnic culture-tourism village

(VOVworld)President Truong Tan Sang on Wednesday paid a New Year visit to the Vietnamese ethnic culture-tourism village in Dong Mo, Hanoi. Addressing a spring festival there, President Sang urged Party Committees, local administrations, the Fatherland Front and all ethnic minority groups to strive for economic development, preservation of tradition and consolidation of the Vietnamese unity bloc:“The festival is organized for the public and each ethnic group showcases their distinctive cultural identities. The Vietnamese culture is rich and good if combined with tourism. Hopefully, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the village will play a more important role in promoting the national unity bloc."

President Sang visited areas that recreate typical ethnic features such as a Cham tower, and a Khmer pagoda. The 2013 spring festival is held from February 18th to 20th in the Vietnamese ethnic culture-tourism village to honor traditional beauties of Vietnam’s ethnic groups during the Lunar New Year holidays.
