President Vo Van Thuong successfully concludes his trip to China to attend 3rd BRF

(VOVWORLD) - President Vo Van Thuong arrived in Hanoi on Friday, successfully concluding his trip to China to attend the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation at the invitation of Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

In Beijing, President Vo Van Thuong attended the opening ceremony of the BRF Forum which drew more than 4,000 delegates from more than 140 countries and 30 international organizations with more than 20 heads of state and government. At the BRF Forum, President Vo Van Thuong delivered a speech affirming that Vietnam always supports initiatives beneficial to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world including the Belt and Road initiative initiated by China.

The President had meetings with many heads of state, heads of delegations, and international organizations, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith. The Vietnamese President also met and discussed with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and United Nations Secretary General António Guterres.

At the meetings, the partners all showed respect for Vietnam's role and position and wishes to promote practical cooperation with Vietnam, especially in trade, science, technology, education and training, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

President Vo Van Thuong also met with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and a number of Chinese leaders to discuss ways to deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said President Vo Van Thuong's trip to attend the 3rd "Belt and Road" Forum for International Cooperation Summit was a success, achieving the set goals, effectively implementing of the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress. The results of this forum will support the implementation of the agreement on connecting Vietnam's "Two Corridors, One Belt" framework and China's "Belt and Road" initiative.
