Of the Labor Code, Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said the adjustment of the retirement age demonstrates a political will to deal with the prospect of an ageing population. He said, Vietnam will have an ageing population as soon as 2040, according to forecasts. Raising the retirement age, he said, will ensure the sustainability of the social insurance fund and narrow gender inequality. 

The new laws include amendments and supplements to the Law on Organization of the Government, the Law on Organization of the Local Government, the Law on Library, the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens, the Law on Militia and Self-Defense Forces, and the Law on Securities.
