Prime Minister arrives in Jakarta for ASEAN Leaders' Meeting

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and a high-level delegation of Vietnam arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Friday afternoon, beginning their visit and attendance of the ASEAN Leaders' Meeting.

As planned, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will make a statement at the summit, pay courtesy visits to Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, meet with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin bin Haji Muhammad Yassin, and Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh and attend meeting between the Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

Prime Minister Chinh’s first trip abroad since he took office demonstrates the importance of strengthening cooperation with ASEAN to Vietnam. The trip aims to enhance ASEAN's central role in solving emerging challenges to create a peaceful and conducive environment for sustainable development of every country in the region. Prime Minister Chinh and ASEAN leaders will discuss Myanmar's situation, ASEAN community building, COVID-19 pandemic response, and ASEAN external relations.
