During a meeting on Thursday with young deputies who are attending the mid-year National Assembly session, Mr. Phuc said the National Assembly is a great school for the deputies, providing them opportunities to improve their ability to fulfil tasks assigned by the country and the people. The Prime Minister asked the young deputies to focus more on start-ups, science, and technology development: “If Vietnam’s growth is 7 percent per year, it will take another 19 years to catch up with Thailand’s GDP, 47 years to be on par with South Korea, and 51 years to be equivalent to Japan. So, Vietnamese people, especially the young, have a responsibility to move Vietnam forward”.
A young deputies group was set up in the National Assembly in 2016. Its members are under 45.
