(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam always appreciates the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) cooperation and assistance to Vietnam during its international economic integration, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Meeting WTO Director General Okonjo‑Iweala in Davos on Wednesday, Mr. Chinh expressed his concern about rising trade protectionism and new standards related to climate change.
He outlined the difficulties that developing economies are facing due to these barriers. Mr. Chinh proposed that the WTO have discussions with developed countries to provide technical assistance to developing countries to implement these tasks.
The WTO Director General hailed Vietnam as a success story in socio-economic development and expressed appreciation for the WTO’s cooperation with Vietnam.
She briefed the Vietnamese PM on a recent working session between a group of experts from the European Commission and the WTO to examine developing countries’ recommendations, and said the WTO has called for necessary technical assistance to developing economies.
