(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met officials from Ben Tre province in the government office to review social economic development and measures to cope with saline intrusion. The provincial leaders asked for government support in several irrigation projects and water supplies for local people.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the province should link economic restructuring with infrastructure development, water management and climate change response: “Construction projects should take into account salt intrusion and application of science and technology in plants and livestock industries. People’s awareness on climate change should be raised to change cultivation habits. The province should look for diverse sources of funding without exclusively relying on state budget.”
