The meeting reviewed the progress of initiatives proposed at the 3rd Conference and the implementation of the Southeast Regional Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision extending to 2050.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that, despite positive growth over the past seven months, the region's economic performance has not fully met expectations as a leading economic region for the nation.
To enhance the effectiveness of regional planning implementation and fully leverage the Southeastern region's potential and advantages, the Prime Minister urged ministries, sectors, and localities to take proactive steps in completing their assigned tasks with high quality.
He emphasized the importance of bolstering the three traditional growth drivers—investment, export, and consumption—while also fostering new growth drivers including digital transformation, green transformation, the circular economy, the sharing economy, the knowledge economy, semiconductor chips, hydrogen, and artificial intelligence.
The Prime Minister also tasked the Ministry of Planning and Investment with organizing a mid-term conference to assess the implementation of the Politburo's Resolutions on the development of socio-economic regions. This assessment will serve as the basis for issuing a Prime Ministerial Directive on regional development.
