Mr. Chinh welcomed the US’s support for a strong, independent, and prosperous Vietnam and praised the Trade Representative’s efforts to accelerate trade between the two countries and resolve issues disrupting two-way trade.

He also welcomed the Trade Representative’s attention to anti-dumping investigations on goods originating in Vietnam and said he looks forward to effective cooperation in the matter.

Ms. Tai said she appreciates Vietnam’s commitments in its action plan as well as the effective operation of working groups dealing with wood and monetary issues, and said she expects the two countries can foster stronger economic, trade, investment, and financial relations and maintain a stable framework of trade and investment towards sustainable trade balance.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Scott A. Nathan the same day. Mr. Chinh asked that the DFC continues to support Vietnam in green transition, circular economy, renewable energy, climate change response, digital transformation, addressing the consequences of Agent Orange, searching for the remains of martyrs, and promoting development in the new period.

Appreciating the potential and prospects of economic cooperation with Vietnam, Nathan said many cooperation projects have been carried out between them very effectively and the DFC looks forward to further cooperation in climate change response, renewable energy, development of the Mekong River region, and inclusive development finance.
