Giving Tet gifts to policy families, poor households, trade union members, and workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as Agent Orange/dioxin victims in Can Tho, Prime Minister Chinh affirmed the Party and State identify people as the center, players, driving force, and goal of national development. He said environment, culture, and social security shouldn’t be sacrificed in exchange for economic growth. The Party and State strive to ensure the livelihoods of people, leaving no one behind.

The Prime Minister said Tet is an opportunity to demonstrate the principle of "Drink water, remember its source" and spread the spirit of "Mutual love and affection". He urged Can Tho city to make sure that locals celebrate Tet in a happy, safe and healthy way, especially for policy beneficiaries and vulnerable people. Besides, people need to follow health measures for pandemic prevention and control and comply with regulations on traffic safety, social order and safety.

On the same day, Prime Minister Chinh paid New Year visits to the officers and soldiers of the Military Zone 9 Command and Can Tho City Police. He also visited Le Phuoc Tho, former head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, and visited Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
