Prime Minister: Vietnamese diplomats must place national interests upfront
(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has received ambassadors and heads of missions to be posted in 59 Vietnamese overseas offices.
He asked them to uphold the Party guidelines and State policies while serving national interests must be their supreme task. The Prime Minister said the diplomats should promote political diplomacy and ensure fine relations with host countries: “The diplomats must assist in export market expansion to create more jobs and generate incomes. Existing free trade deals must be exploited while negotiations on further bilateral and multilateral agreements must be accelerated. The diplomats should promote foreign investment in Vietnam, especially investment flows from advanced countries. Tourism and infrastructure development promotion are important tasks for the diplomats.”
The Prime Minister urged the diplomats to care more for the overseas Vietnamese community and encourage them to respect local law and strengthen unity with the homeland.
