(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked Hai Phong city to take drastic measures to restructure the economy by improving productivity, effectiveness and added values. Dung told Hai Phong authorities at a meeting on Monday:“The industry sector needs to attract more investment because Hai Phong has advantages in this sector. Agriculture of Hai Phong, a centrally-administered city, should utilize science and technology to earn added values. Efforts should be made to attract investment in the rural areas to change the labor structure”.

Dung pointed out that Hai Phong should take advantage of its seaports and airports to draw foreign investment in auxiliary industry and hi-tech. He encouraged Hai Phong to form new production relations in order to establish value chains from production to consumption. Hai Phong was also required to develop modern services and high-quality human resources. The prime minister also called on the city officials to continue with poverty reduction, job generation, building new rural areas and ensuring social order. Dung said the Government will continue to provide loans to poor and near-poor households and to create favorable conditions for businesses which invest in agriculture and rural areas.
