A conference was held on Thursday to review 5 years of implementing a coordination program on sea and islands communications in Khanh Hoa province. Since 2006, the Navy High Command and the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee have jointly informed hundreds of thousands of soldiers, staff and local people about Vietnam’s maritime strategy until 2020, the International Law on the Sea and the legal foundation of Vietnam’s assertion of sovereignty over the Spratley and Paracel Archipelagoes. Provincial fishermen have set up two groups for long-term offshore fishing in Spratley Archipelago and built a fleet of 100 boats as part of efforts to develop a maritime economy and support the national sea and islands sovereignty.
